    A firm favourite with Nigella Lawson, the pure liquorice pellets (Spezzatina / Spezzata) being used in multiple recipes including the famous Basque Burnt Cheesecake.

  • Bagsværd Lakrids

    Founded in 2015, Bagsværd Lakrids quickly gained a reputation for the quality of the rich handmade liquorice caramels they produce and are now widely recognised as the world's finest.

    GOLD winners at the Danish Liquorice Taste Award in 2020 (Previous winners include Lakrids by Bulow), Bronze in 2019 and Silver in 2018.

  • Haupt Lakrits

    Founded in 2014, they focus on small batch production of liquorice using the highest quality ingredients that they can obtain. Haupt Lakrits are known for cooking methods that produce intense, smooth & mature flavours.


    They are also the creator of Svenskjävlar (Literal translation: “Swedish Bastards”), the world's saltiest liquorice.

  • Joris

    Joris was founded in Belgium almost 100 years ago and is steeped in tradition. They are one of the few businesses that still uses real Acacia gum as one of its basic ingredients. Acacia gum is very expensive but is a great binder and has the benefit of not being sticky and low in calories.

     

    Joris Sweets is the only confectioner in Europe that still uses the traditional technique of week-long air drying and steaming to provide a beautiful shine.

    Klene is one of the biggest Dutch liquorice brands, founded way back in 1876, in Amsterdam. 

    Using natural Stevia based sweeteners, they produce the best quality range of sugar-free black liquorice we have found (and we have taste-tested extensively!)

  • Lakritsfabriken

    Lakritsfabriken (The Liquorice Factory) launched Sweden's first premium black liquorice at the Liquorice Festival in Stockholm in 2011.

    The range has grown over time and today now includes chocolate-dipped, chocolate-coated as well as including spice mixes and liquorice cooking ingredients.

    Over the years, Lakritsfabriken has also won a number of awards for its various products. Today, Lakritsfabriken is one of the Nordic region's most highly regarded liquorice brands.

  • Autodrop

    Founded in 1965, Van Slooten introduced rolls of Autodrop in the form of car tires. Autodrop as we now know it only arrived in 1987 when Dutch drop liquorice shaped as cars & buses appeared for the first time.


    This brand of Dutch origin focuses on crazy car candy with special flavours like the pink Cadillacs. Straight to the point, funny, irresistible and a bit cheeky.

  • Grahns Konfektyr

    Philip Grahn began making caramels and lollipops at home in his kitchen in 1949.

    When his son Sune became involved in the company, the first steps were taken towards a more industrial production. During the 1980s, the now legendary product Hockeypulver was developed, which was manufactured at home in Sune's garage.

    Since then, the company has steadily grown and now has nearly 70 staff working to make confectionery in Skövde, Sweden.

    The famous brand founded in 1920 near Bonn, Germany by Hans Riegel: HARIBO (HAns RIegel BOnn) needs no introduction.

     

    Haribo are now a global leader in fruit gummies and liquorice, manufacturing in 16 countries (Including the UK) and with nearly 1000 products worldwide including over 50 varieties of liquorice! We import from European distributors so that we can offer flavours not commonly found in the UK.

  • Katja

    Katjes is a German family business founded in 1910 and is one of the largest companies in the German confectionery market. Katja is the manufacturer of ‘Percy Pigs’ from Marks & Spencer.

     

    Katjes was the first candy brand to use 100% natural dyes in all products and the inventor of yoghurt based gummy sweets. They now also only use only natural flavours & preservatives and are gelatine free.

  • Matthijs

    In 1920 Walther Matthijs - newly married - starts his own company from his home in the Netherlands. With nothing but a stove and a large saucepan in the kitchen. Without money, but with a lot of passion, he started experimenting. His father had always been a confectioner and he learned a lot from him. With a lot of trying and starting over, he built his own recipes...

     

    Matthijs is now a leading European producer of confectionery producing over 300 different types.

  • MEENK

    Named after Dr. JB Meenk who created various medicinal recipes sold under the MEENK brand since 1900.

     

    Around 1920, the factory expanded into manufacturing confectionery on a chemical basis. However, due to a shortage of chemical raw materials during World War II, they decided to use only natural and plant-based ingredients. This marked the beginnings of the liquorice they offer today.

     

    MEENK liquorice is manufactured in the old Dutch town of Winschoten using the best plant-based ingredients and traditional techniques.

  • Toms

    Toms was founded in 1924 by two business partners, Trojel and Meyer. Their first product was pastilles in an elegant box. Victor B. Strand bought Toms in the 40's and made the company blossom after WW II. The success was driven by popular sellers, such as the Gold Bar (Guld Barre), chocolate turtles (Toms Kæmpe Skildpadde) and Yankie Bar.


    By the 1970’s they were one of the most widely recognised confectionery producers in Denmark, something retained to this day.

  • Venco

    Venco (Voornveld en Co) was founded all the way back in 1878 by The Dutchman Gerrit van Voornveld when he started to produce liquorice and peppermints at a steam factory in the Spuistraat district of Amsterdam.

    Venco’s rich history and broad product range have made it one of the leading brands of liquorices in the Netherlands.
